VERY INTERESTING Winchester Model 1886 "Antique" 33 WCF Rifle With Provenance
Description: Very interesting rifle here. It is a Winchester Model 1886 in caliber 33 WCF, which was introduced in 1902. The Cody email sheet shows serial number 108534 was applied on April 14, 1896 and confirms this as a rifle in 33 caliber with round barrel, plain trigger, full magazine, and rifle butt, received in the warehouse on March 9, 1905 and shipped on March 13, 1905 to order number 5000. It was never any other caliber or configuration! So, this lower tang sat at the bottom of the parts bin for almost 9 years before it was made into a rifle! Quite possibly could be the first 33 WCF by serial number and begs for further investigation by the ladies at the Cody Museum! An official factory letter has been ordered, and both the email sheet and factory letter will be mailed to the purchaser. CONDITION: Barrel and mag tube retain 50% original finish that has turned patina. Receiver/lower tang retain only 5% original finish with the balance silvered out. Stocks are generally tight with slight wear loss at the toe and typical nicks and scratches. There are no extra holes. The upper left corner of the butt stock at tang has a very small repair, otherwise there are no splits or cracks anywhere else. Action is smooth. Half cock safety functions properly. Bore excellent, sharp rifling with just a hint of frost and slight darkness, should clean better with some Hoppes and JB Bore Paste. I have shot this rifle - it feeds, fires and ejects just fine. All said, it grades NRA Antique Very Good and will make a nice addition to your Winchester collection. SHIPPING: Shipping to the Continental US States will be a flat $40, with insurance optional and additional if requested. We are registered with the CA DOJ and will ship to California! TERMS: No international sales and no sales to Alaska or Hawaii. Antique so it can ship directly to you assuming your local laws allow it. Please know what is legal for your state (for example, residents of NY City must have this ship to an FFL). 3 day non-firing inspection. Buyer pays return shipping. Payment by bank check, money order or personal check; all major credit cards are accepted with a 4% convenience fee added. Ships by UPS Ground with tracking. Always interested in Civil War items, as well as used long guns and used antique handguns so please contact me if you have anything for sale or trade. 315.251.4799 with questions or concerns. Please keep in mind that I work a full-time job during the week and may not be able to immediately respond to your text, phone, or email message. Thanks for looking!
