Description:
Winchester 1886 Arapahoe County rifle. Made in 1894. 40-82. Beautiful gun with 99% of the original blue on the barrel. 85% bright case colors on the underside of the frame. Even the buttplate has visible case colors. Wood is excellent. Left hand side of the frame is factory inscribed ""Arapahoe County"". These guns were ordered after a clash with the governor of Colorado and the city hall of Denver which was also the county seat. State guard was called the 500 citizens of Denver were hastily deputized in order to gaurd the city from the state. The governor ultimately backed down. Accompanying this rifle is documentation on Arapahoe County marked guns. Very fine Historical piece!
