Description:
This is a very interesting rifle and must be near a one of a kind with all its options. I've had it several years and has been a favorite.
First as per the Cody Firearms record office this rifle was received in warehouse on Feb 19,1901 and was shipped Feb 20, 1901.
The rifle was sent for Repair and Return on August 15, 1912, order number 43276. we will touch on that later.
Type: Rifle, Caliber: 45/70, Barrel Type: Round, Barrel Lenght: 24 inches, Trigger: Plain, Checkered Stock (280 made) Pistol
Grip (796 made), 1/2 Magazine (477 Std on EXTRA Lightweight) , Swiss butt plage (867 mostly shotgun), Takedown, Matted
Barrel (an option I'm told is super rare with no number given I can find).
Back to Retun and Repair; This rifle has a nickel plated receiver and fore end cap. The Swiss Butt plate was nickel plated as std.
The plating is old, it has the same wear on the plating as the receiver edge does on the underside from carry. It has some light spotting
and minor flaking as well. It also has a 2 leaf folding Lyman sight and a Lyman receiver sight as well than could have been added at time
of plating. The stocks are highly polished beautiful with very few handling marks and checkering is still very proud. The action and trigger
all work excellent, The bore is good, shows a bit of wear but clean and good riflings. Without doubt one of the best 86's I've ever seen.
The ammo in the pictures is not included but is being offered seperate. Thanks for looking!
