Winchester Model 1886 45-70 Rifle High Condition Takedown Octagon Full Mag made 1902
Description: Winchester Model 1886 rifle in the desirable 45-70 Gov't caliber with 26" octagon barrel, full magazine, scarce takedown frame (for a standard weight & configuration rifle), blued and case hardened finish, plain walnut stocks, plain trigger. Cody Museum email sheet confirms configuration (see last picture) for serial number 125360, warehoused and shipped on July 24, 1902 to order number 147728. Info also mentions rifle left the factory with Lyman rear, leaf and front sights - original front sight still intact, #6 leaf sight has been replaced with a later Winchester rear sight, and Lyman "N" code rear tang sight has been removed (bright blue on upper tang shows it was there for a while). This attractive and desirable rifle has a nice, tight action with a properly-working half cock safety, bright shiny bore with sharp rifling, tight take down with no wobble, 95% original mag tube blue, 85% original barrel blue thinning on the edges, 65% bright original receiver blue with loss on the upper portions as shown (just flaked from wear, not removed in any way), 20% original case colors on the hammer and lever, beautiful stocks showing very little wear. This one was well-taken care of for the last 121 years. With its configuration and condition, it is a collector's prize that surely will gain value over time. TERMS: Offers entertained and considered. No international sales and no sales to Alaska or Hawaii. Must ship to FFL or C&R license holder. Sales to California and New York will only be shipped to an FFL dealer, no exceptions. Buyer pays $60 for shipping and tracking by USPS Priority Mail. Payment by personal check, bank check or USPS money orders All major credit cards accepted with 4% convenience charge added. 3-day, non-firing inspection with buyer responsible for return shipping.
