Winchester Model 1886 Deluxe Rifle - Cal. .45-70 - 26" barrel - SN 106639 (1895) - Special Order 1/2 octagon barrel, Lyman ivory bead LWT style front sight, 3-leaf "express" rear sight, 1/2 magazine - 4-shot , XXX wood, checkered pistol grip stock, steel shotgun buttplate - Cody letter.. Bore shows some mild roughness but is bright with VG+ or better rifling - action is excellent with good lock-up, extraction, and ejection. Metal is excellent overall with no rust, pitting, or corrosion. Left side of the receiver was drilled at one time, most likely for a Lyman 21 receiver sight - holes have been expertly filled, smoothed and receiver lightly "toned" so repair is barely visible and not easily noticed - overall, an outstanding professional repair. Barrel retains 85% blue with some thinning - receiver has drifted off to a mottled gray patina with some light spotting. Wood is undamaged with sharp checkering, retains 80% finish and shows moderate wear with only some light surface marks from normal handling. Except for the receiver repair, this early 1886 is all original and in "Fine" or better condition overall in the very desirable .45-70 caliber and with lots of desirable special features that will make an outstanding shooter and collectible at a reasonable price considering condition and the special order options.
