Description: WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 LEVER ACTION RIFLE IN .45-90 WCF This rifle was manufactured in 1890 so is a fairly early example. Standard rifle with full octagon barrel, full length magazine, semi-buckhorn rear sight, and walnut stock with rifle buttplate and matching forearm. CONDITION: The overall condition of thsi rifle is very good with the metal exhibiting a soft grey patina. The legends are sharp as are the edges the screw heads are in good condtion with one or two with some slight turn damage. The sight elevator is missing. The butt stock is missing a 1 - 1/4" sliver on left tang, very minor. Both the buttstock and forarm have the usual scattered impressions & dings typical of a rifle this age. The bore is in very good condtion with well defined rifling and fairly shiny. This is a very nice Winchester 1886 in the popular caliber of 45-90 and at a great price. Typically Winchester 1886 rifles with 26" full length octagon barrels in calibers of 45-70 and 45-90 tend to have higher prices even for standard cofigured rifles in good shape. I have not shot this rifle but cycled rounds from the magazine through the action it it cycles fine. There is a very slight dent in the mag tube near the bore end of the rifle. I loaded 8 rounds and had no problem doing so I expect the dent does not impede a fully loaded mag tube..
