Condition:
The overall condition of this Winchester 1886 rifle is very good to fine. This rifle retains 40% of the original blue finish with some light wear on high spots, a few patches of dark oxidation, and some light rotational marks on the magazine tube. Patterns of the original case colors remain with the balance having silvered. The upper tang screw is a blued replacement. The wood is fine as refinished in the distant past, with some scattered minor handling marks. The bore is in fine condition partially bright with strong rifling. The legends are strong and clear, the screw head are in good shape some minor turn wear in a couple. The walnut stocks are in good shape and show some minor dings and dents from use over time.
This rifle features a proper working single set trigger. The set trigger works by fully cocking the rifle, ready to fire, then pushing the trigger forward and setting it. The sensitivity is set by the small screw behind the trigger. This small screw can be seen in the close up picture of the action. The action cycles excellently and locks up tight. The half-cock works fine and the single set trigger works well when using the set screw to adjust sensitivity. Overall mechanically excellent.
This is a fine 1891 manufactured special order Winchester 1886 rifle with a set trigger. This is the second one we have listed in the same caliber with a single set trigger. Since it is an antique it can be shipped directly to the buyer;
