Winchester Model 1886 Made 1891
Description: ******* Offers welcomed and entertained ******* Winchester Model 1886 in caliber 38-56 WCF with standard features of 26" full octagon barrel, full magazine, plain walnut stocks, plain trigger, rifle butt with crescent steel butt plate, open sights, blued and case-hardened finish. The picture and included Cody Museum email sheet confirms the configuration as well as the serial number application date, warehouse date, shipping date and order number. CONDITION: There is some nickelly-silver on the receiver from the case colors fading with traces of case colors remaining there and on the hammer & lever, otherwise all the metal surfaces have turned a dark chocolate indicative of long life in a humid part of the country. The action is smooth and crisp, with a properly working half cock safety. The mag tube is tight with no wobble. The original front and rear sights remain intact. The bore is very good, a 7.5 of 10 and should be an excellent shooter. The original walnut stocks are a pleasing deep reddish brown with some nice figure to the butt stock, but all the varnish has worn away, so they are dull. The stocks exhibit expected nicks, dings and scratches, thankfully void of any splits or cracks. Grades NRA Antique Very Good. Nice, honest rifle to add to your Winchester collection.
