Winchester Model 1886 Pistol Grip Lightweight Takedown Rifle 33 WCF
Description:
Serial #156693, .33 WCF, 24" barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some faint traces of freckling within the grooves. This is a 1919-made rifle that has retained about 85-90% of the original blue finish along the barrel and magazine tube, with some silvering at the muzzle, and small spots of mild brown freckling scattered throughout. The bolt has a commensurate amount of original blue remaining, while the frame has traces of blue, mostly on protected areas, and the balance turned to a mellow plum-brown patina. The hammer has about 50-60% original blue remaining, and the lever has a mostly mottled gray-brown patina. A Lyman sporting bead front sight is mated to an unusual, unmarked rear barrel sight that has a wide circular aperture and V-notch leaf, very similar in appearance to the Daniels Patent rear sight (almost an early version of a Ghost Ring type sight). The walnut forend and pistol-grip buttstock have some minor handling marks and small blemishes in the old, reapplied oil finish, and the checkered steel buttplate has some light-moderate surface oxidation present. The barrel assembly lock-up is tight, and the action functions smoothly. This is a nice honest Lightweight Model 1886 and rates very good-near fine condition, with a very unusual and modern-looking rear sight. FFL or C&R;
