Very Nice WINCHESTER M1890 Slide Action .22 WRF Easy TAKEDOWN Rifle PLINKER WWI Era 3rd Model Easy Takedown SMALL GAME Rifle
Description: Very Nice WINCHESTER M1890 Slide Action .22 WRF Easy TAKEDOWN Rifle PLINKER WWI Era 3rd Model Easy Takedown SMALL GAME Rifle Here we present a C&R Winchester Model 1890 Third Model Slide Action Takedown Rifle chambered in .22 Winchester Rimfire, manufactured in 1914 in New Haven, Connecticut. In the late 1880s, the Winchester Repeating Arms Company asked John Moses Browning to design a replacement for the Model 1873 rifle, since the rim fire version of the Model 1873 had never achieved any great popularity. On June 26, 1888, a patent for the new design was issued to John & Matthew Browning. Under this patent, Winchester created the second repeating slide action .22 rifle ever successfully developed and manufactured, being narrowly edged out by the Colt Lightning small frame carbine The Model 1890 proved to be the most successful repeating rim fire rifle for general all around shooting ever made by Winchester. Approximately 775,000 Model 1890 rifles were produced between 1890 and 1932. For many years, the Model 1890 was considered to be the standard for use in shooting galleries, hence its nickname of “gallery gun.” Although the Model 1890 rarely makes appearances in pop culture, its small cameos are notably significant. It briefly appeared in the 1999 film “The Green Mile”, a film that sparked controversy at the time, during a scene where a search party member is searching for an escaped prisoner. Even more culturally impactful, you can find a “Varmint Rifle” modeled after the Model 1890 in Rockstar's blockbuster game “Red Dead Redemption 2.” The overall condition is fine. Original finish has been preserved. Excellent action. The bore is mostly bright and nicely rifled. This example sports a solid stock with minimal handling wear. Numbers match. Markings are legible. Marble rear peep. Replacement front sight with a flip up bead. Own the original! This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel: 24 inches. Caliber: .22 Winchester Rimfire (WRF) Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R Licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1750 #250050 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
