Winchester Model 1890 2nd Model Rifle
Description:
Serial #50850, .22 Short, 24" octagon barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some minor freckling and pitting along its length.
This is a Winchester Firearms 1897-made rifle that has retained about 90-92% of the original blue along the barrel, magazine tube, and bolt.
There is some minor silvering and fading along the edges and bearing surfaces, as well as scattered spots of plum-brown freckling.
The frame exhibits 80-85% of the original color case-hardening, with darker areas of freckling, mostly concentrated at the forward portion of the receiver, and on the wrist tangs.
The grooved walnut forend is in excellent shape with only some minor blemishes in the original finish, and the buttstock has some light handling marks and bruises as well.
The original crescent-shaped buttplate has a freckled, dark gray patina overall.
This is a really nice 2nd Model 1890, and rates fine-near excellent condition overall.
