Sold Winchester Model 1890 22 short takedown. This is a second model firearm manufactured in 1897, serial number 51559. Of all of the First and Second model 90's manufactured, only slightly more than 110,000 were case colored. A case colored Model 90 is a highly desirable collector's item. The guns from this era were used in the Wild West Shows.This model 1890 has the correct 2nd model barrel and tang markings, but of interest to collectors is the barrel is 24 3/8" long, which was the length of the first model barrels.(Second model and all subsequent standard barrel lengths were 24" long). It is a documented fact that Winchester did not unneccessarily waste parts so my guess is this is very likely a "transitional" barrel as this model 90 barrel includes the relatively seldom seen correct vee notch rear sight and front blade sight. This firearm is in very good condition and appears to be correct with a repair to the magazine tube collar, which is a minor distraction from the beauty of this firearm-see last photo. No sales to CA, must ship to FFL.
