Description:
Here we have a classic Winchester Model 1890 pump-action rifle chambered in the original and desirable .22 Winchester Rim Fire (.22 W.R.F.) cartridge. Manufactured in 1903, this is an early John M. Browning-designed takedown rifle that remains one of the most iconic rimfire repeaters ever produced.
This rifle features the desirable 24-inch octagon barrel, original takedown configuration, straight-grip walnut stock, grooved walnut slide handle, crescent steel buttplate, and factory barrel and receiver markings that remain sharp and easily readable. The metal has developed an attractive, even brown patina with honest handling wear consistent with a well-preserved 120-plus-year-old Winchester. The walnut stocks remain solid with normal field marks and handling impressions but no obvious cracks or repairs.
The Model 1890 was Winchester's premier slide-action rimfire and was built specifically for one caliber. This example is chambered in .22 W.R.F., the cartridge introduced alongside the Model 1890 and prized today by Winchester collectors.
A fine collectible Winchester that would fit equally well in an advanced collection or as a representative example of one of John Browning's most successful sporting rifle designs.
