WINCHESTER ~ MODEL 90 (DATED 1918) ~ .22LR
Description: The Winchester Model 90 is a collectible pump-action rifle chambered for single, specific types of .22 rimfire ammunition. The Winchester Model 90 in .22 Long Rifle (.22 LR) was only produced from 1919 until 1932, and rifles in this caliber are less common than those chambered for other types of .22 rimfire. Approximately 849,000 rifles were produced in various calibers between 1890 and 1932. Caliber-specific: A Model 90 will only feed the cartridge for which it was originally chambered. It is not compatible with all .22 rimfire ammunition interchangeably. The Winchester Model 62, the successor to the Model 90, was the first Winchester pump-action .22 to offer this interchangeable capability.Identify the correct caliber: The caliber should be marked on the barrel of the rifle. Before attempting to purchase or fire ammunition, verify the correct caliber for your specific Model 90 by checking this barrel marking. History Designed by the Browning brothers, John and Matthew, the Model 1890 was Winchester's first slide-action rifle. The Model 1890 was renamed the Model 90 in 1919.The .22 LR version was introduced in 1919, the same year the model name was simplified. Known as a "gallery gun," the Model 90 was used extensively in shooting galleries at carnivals and arcades. Production ended in 1932 when the rifle was replaced by the Winchester Model 62. .22 Long Rifle SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Barrels: 24 inches Weight: 5.8 Lbs Item Location: Avon, OH |
