UNCLEANED, ATTIC CONDITION 1892 .44-40 OCTAGON RIFLE, #271XXX, MADE 1904
Description: UNCLEANED, ATTIC CONDITION 1892 .44-40 OCTAGON RIFLE, #271XXX, MADE 1904. A very attractive 1892 that shows fine even aged blue on the barrel with excellent markings, original buckhorn rear sight with elevator bar intact and Winchester small blade front sight. The magazine tube shows similar blue as the barrel on the top portion with the balance aged to brown with some very light surface denting on the right side between the forend cap and z retaining band- really minor and not overly apparent. The receiver shows good aged blue evenly mixing/ageing brown with excellent screw heads that don’t look turned. Some good blue on the loading gate. Butt stock is generally excellent with only the most minor of handling marks and very tight wood to metal fit. The forend is similar and shows honest saddle wear ahead of the receiver bottom. Action is tight, safety half-cock holds securely and the bore is a bit dark with good rifling throughout with scattered pitting. This one has a really good look to it especially with the saddle wear on the forearm. An un-messed with and uncleaned 122 year old 1892 in the most desirable caliber.
