1892 .38-40 ROUND BARREL RIFLE, #402XXX, MADE 1907
Description: 1892 .38-40 ROUND BARREL RIFLE, #402XXX, MADE 1907. A fine example that retains good barrel blue some light age and thinning. Mag tube shows fine blue with light wear only. The receiver has good blue on the back half of the right side and about ¾ blue on the left side with fine blue on the bolt. Exc. receiver screws. The barrel is fitted with a buckhorn rear sight with elevator bar intact along with the correct Winchester small blade front sight. All markings are sharp and clear. Looks like it had a tang sight on at one time as the factory drilled and tapped tang screw hole is empty. Fine classic Winchester reddish/brown walnut stock and forend with tight wood to metal fit. Tight action with strong safety half-cock on the hammer. Generally excellent fairly bright bore with only some light scattered pin-prick surface corrosion and strong rifling all the way through. An attractive 119 year-old 1892.
