Description: Antique WINCHESTER 1892 Lever Action .38 WCF Rifle Classic .38-40 Lever Action Made in 1893 Here we present an antique Winchester Model 1892 Lever Action Rifle chambered in .38 WCF, made in 1893 in New Haven, Connecticut. Another fantastic design from the mind of John Moses Browning, the 1892 was made to replace the venerable and iconic 1873 and featured its pistol caliber chamberings. The result was a trim and light rifle that was an immediate hit and stayed in production for almost 50 years. Many gun owners favored Winchester rifles for their ability to fire the same ammunition as their pistols, meaning that a cowboy, trapper or stagecoach defender could take along his trust rifle and pistol sidearm with only one supply of ammo! The Model 1892, like many other Winchester rifles, made a name for themselves in many notable Hollywood productions. She served as the firearm of choice to “The Rifleman” with actor Chuck Connors and was held in high regard by characters as portrayed by western star John Wayne. Winchester actually developed a 100th Anniversary John Wayne Commemorative Model 1892 Carbine as a collectible piece to the public. This rifle was one of the early production, made in just the second year, and is chambered in the useful .38-40 WCF and features a 24-inch octagonal barrel. The front and rear sights have been replaced. The overall condition is good. The metal surfaces are regaining a gray patina. The markings are clear and legible. The walnut stock is in good shape. The bore is serviceable, clean with decent rifling. There is a repair to the receiver tang by the hammer. The action on this rifle is excellent. Own the original!
