Antique Winchester Model 1892 44 WCF Octagon Rifle Made 1896 FREE SHIPPING
Description: Desirable Antique Winchester Model 1892 rifle in caliber 44 WCF aka 44-40, standard configuration of 24" octagon barrel, full magazine, plain trigger, plain walnut stocks, straight grip, open sights, blued and case hardened finish, serial number 115853 was made in 1896. CONDITION: All metal surfaces are a mix of gray and stained patina with no original blue remaining, and no case colors left on the hammer or lever. Fore arm has one long scratch, not a crack, on the right side, otherwise very good retaining most of the original varnish. Butt stock shows a little more use, with some oil staining and multiple nicks/dings. Neither stock has been sanded or refinished, there are no splits or cracks and no extra holes. Action is smooth with a properly functioning half cock safety. Bore is very good with typical scattered light roughness but very good, consistent rifling that should spin a bullet just fine (has not been test-fired yet); rated at a 7 of 10. Front sight is a Marble No. 3 and the rear sight is a correct, albeit refinished, semi-buckhorn Winchester sight. All in all grades NRA Antique good and is a desirable caliber & configuration that should make a fun shooter after a clean bill of health from a competent gunsmith.
