Rare Winchester Model 1892 Musket .44 WCF 30" with 2 Bayonets
**** Final Reduction **** It is estimated that less than 1% of all Winchester 1892 lever action rifles were produced in the musket configuration. This has a 30" barrel, fixed blade front & folding ladder 800 yard rear sight, full magazine, full-length forearm secured with 2 bands and straight stock with carbine buttplate & sling swivels. The top of the barrel is marked with the 2-line address/patent dates in front of the sight and the .44 W.C.F. caliber designation is next to the breech. The tang is marked "Model 1892 - Winchester- Trade Mark Reg in U.S. Pat.Off." with the serial number on the bottom front of the receiver. This places production in 1909.
The finish has 20-25% thin blue evenly distributed overall giving the gun a very pleasing look. The stocks are in great shape, showing a nice grain and having no checks, scratches or cracks present. Mechanically, everything is in excellent condition. The action is smooth and the barrel shows strong rifling and a shiny bore.
Winchester had great hopes of selling these to the US Government but orders never came about. Only 574 were ever produced. Here is your chance to get a very nice example of these rare rifles with 2 bayonets included. $10,000 FIRM.
