Winchester Model 1892 Lever Action Rifle in 38-40WCF
Description: Winchester Model 1892 Lever Action Rifle in 38-40WCF
This is a Winchester Model 1892 rifle in 38WCF. It has a 24" octagonal barrel fitted with a buck horn barrel sight and an ivory bead blade front sight. It has a crescent butt plate and steel fore arm cap and is equipped with walnut butt stock and fore arm.
Condition:
The overall condition of this Winchester 1892 rifle is very good to fine as refurbished retaining the vast majority of the finish on the barrel and magazine tube with a mixed gray/brown patina on the balance, light wear, and some mild oxidation and slight pitting. The bore is mostly bright with minor oxidation and crisp rifling rating about a +8. The legends are sharp and clear and the screws show little if any turn wear. The mechanical condition of this rifle is excellent it cycles rounds from the magazine tube through the action locks up tight and ejects a case firmly.
These Winchester 1892 rifles and carbines make excellent woods carry rifles since they are light and easy to carry and hold a lot of rounds. The 38-40WCF is basically a necked down 44-40WCF using s 189 grain 40 caliber bullet. I use a Winchester 1892 in 38-40WCF as my farm rifle and I have shot porcupines, skunks, squirrels, and larger critters like coyotes. This one was made in 1906. NOTE- We have 38-40WCF smokeless ammo available for this rifle.
