Description: Winchester Model 1892 Lever Action Takedown Rifle in 44-40 This Winchester 1892 Rifle is chambered in 44WCF it has a full 24" Octagonal barrel and magazine tube. It is a takedown model with the takedown lever at the end of the magazine tube. It is equipped with semi-buckhorn sporting rear sight, blade front sight and a Marbles Aperture tang sight. Condition: The overall condition of this Winchester 1892 Takedown rifle is fine. The 44-40, 24” octagon barrel with full magazine and a bright excellent bore. The barrel and magazine tube retain 90% older reapplied polished blue with areas thinning to gray and showing some old oxidation staining. The action retains about 65% of the same blue with more general wear overall. The smooth walnut stocks remain in very good plus condition as lightly cleaned and refinished showing light handling marks, a small minor crack at the rear right corner of the forend that goes nowhere, the crescent butt plate a bit proud at the toe. The rifle is sighted with a Lyman Hunting front, semi-buckhorn sporting rear, and a Marbles aperture tang sight on a proper “W2”-marked base. The original markings remain strong and the action cycles well and is mechanically excellent. This rifle takedown is easy and locks up strong when reassembled. What is nice about a takedown rifle is that after shooting it can be disassembled and easily cleaned from the rear. This is a very good takedown rifle in desirable 44WCF chambering..
