Winchester Model 1892 Rifle, caliber 44 WCF
Description: Winchester Model 1892 standard rifle, 24" round barrel, full magazine, plain walnut stocks, plain trigger, crescent steel butt plate, blued and case hardened finish, open sights, serial number 450568 made in 1908, caliber 44 WCF aka 44-40. CONDITION: Barrel and mag tube retain 93% original bright blue with slight loss on the barrel breech from carry wear. Bore is mint, super bright/shiny/sharp, as near as new as you can get, a 9.8 of 10. Action is butter-smooth. Half cock safety works properly. Had it at the range today, it fed, fired and ejected beautifully with no hang-ups or damaged brass. Stocks show some light marks, with a more significant gouge (not deep) on the right side back by the butt plate (barbed wire damage most likely). Also the right lower wrist has a very well done repair, about a 2 inch long tapered elongated triangle that I first missed when I acquired the rifle. Original sights are intact. No damage to butt plate. Mag tube is tight with no wobble. Receiver retains perhaps 15% original fine aged blue with the remainder a mix of patina and light gray. Hammer and lever retain smoky traces of original case colors. A nice, honest rifle in a desirable caliber that's a blast to shoot! Winchesters are the best investment these days as their prices are continually on the rise and this one certainly will follow suit. TERMS: No international sales and no sales to Alaska or Hawaii.
