Winchester Model 1892 Rifle, Octagon Barrel, Cal. .25-20 Win., 1907 Vintage

Description:
Winchester Model 1892 Rifle fitted with a 24 inch octagon barrel, full length magazine tube, Marble 2-S ivory bead front sight, semi-buckhorn adjustable for elevation rear sight, walnut forearm, walnut stock fitted with a steel crescent butt-plate, is blue finished, and chambered in .25-20 Win..  This 1907 vintage Model 1892 is in good condition, with the barrel and magazine tube retaining 60% blue with assorted corrosion spotting, the frame has turned a grey/brown patina, again with some corrosion spotting.  The forearm fits very well and retains 90% of its finish with assorted handling marks and chipping on the right side next to the frame.  The stock fits OK and is tight to the frame but it has had a crack repaired on the left side below the upper tang and has been refinished, retaining most of the refinish.  The crescent butt-plate has turned a blue/grey patina.  The bore is shootable, with sharp rifling, but is somewhat frosty, mostly in the grooves.  The action functions well, with a solid half cock and full cock, and the lever locks positively in place when closed.                               CURIO & RELIC
