WINCHESTER MODEL 92 SADDLE RING CARBINE IN CALIBER 44 WCF
Description:
This is one of the guns that was thought to have been made up for MGM or one of the other production companies around the 1930's. Winchester was using up obsolete parts and the movie companies could use these unusual configurations. About 100 were made up and they have been bouncing around the Winchester community ever since. This one is scarce with a 20 inch round barrel that has been cut down from a 24 inch. You can see the dovetail for the magazine keeper just ahead of the forearm. They all had trapper style short forearms in common as well as all of them were cut down from 24 inch rifles.
Barrel and full length magazine tube have a good amount of blue remaining. Good markings and an excellent bright shiny bore. Receiver is mostly a plum/brown with traces of blue in the protected area. Nice action. Wood is in good condition with carbine style buttplate. Saddle ring with leather thong is present. A scarce and interesting Model 92.
