Antique WINCHESTER Model 1894 TRAPPER Length CARBINE .30-30 WCF Iconic Repeating Rifle Made in 1897 in New Haven, Connecticut Here we present an antique Winchester Model 1894 Lever Action Rifle, made in 1897 in New Haven, Connecticut. Also called the Baby Carbine or the Special Short Carbine, the Trapper was a special order, shorter-barreled carbine that can be found in the Models 1873, 1892, and 1894. Barrel lengths fall under the standard 20 inches but usually are not shorter than 14 inches. The benefits of such a short longarm are fairly obvious: portability. These were shorter, lighter, and handier than the standard version. They are exceedingly rare. Probably due to rarity, this once standard length carbine has had its barrel shortened to 16 inches. New front and rear sights were mounted. Though it is not an original, it still pays homage to the idea and is a much more affordable piece than those that are. The overall condition is very good. Solid walnut stock. Bright, clean bore with good rifling. The action is excellent and very smooth! It remains just as handy today as it did then! Own the original!
