Antique Winchester Model 1894 38-55 Takedown 4-digit Serial Number
Description: You are viewing one used Winchester Model 1894 takedown rifle in caliber 38-55. Cody Museum records show serial # 7335 as a rifle in caliber 38-55 with a standard 26" octagon barrel, full magazine, takedown, plain trigger, serial # applied 9/10/1895, received in warehouse 12/17/1895 and shipped on 6/19/1896 to order # 12279 (see last picture). This is a well-used but not abused old rifle. Any finish remaining is patina (there are hints of blue around the screws and pins on the receiver and hints along the protected areas of the barrel/forearm/cap). Stocks are sound, no major issues (no cracks, no extra holes), normal use and loss due to wear over time and shrinkage but generally in very good condition, could use some linseed oil as they are a little dry. Standard sights including the series 21 front sight with set screw and Rocky Mountain rear sight with earlier elevator. Action still tight and half-cock safety functions as designed. Bore is fair, rifling all there but worn and frosted, dark in the grooves, should still spin a bullet OK, about a 4 or 5 of 10 and may clean better with some scrubbing (I have run some patches with Hoppes and gotten out a lot of black powder residue already but there is more to go). Takedown feature still locks up tightly. All markings are still legible although slightly worn from use and age. Would be a good collectible as is or a candidate for a Turnbull restoration. Antique so can ship directly to you assuming your local laws allow it; need copy of driver's license as proof of age (21 and over please). No international sales. Will accept PayPal, USPS money order, or bank check only (sorry no credit cards unless you use PayPal). Add $40 shipping and insurance. These antique Winchesters are getting harder to come across as collectors are hiding them away, so don't miss out on your chance for a 4-digit survivor. Thanks for looking!!
