CLASSIC, EARLY ANTIQUE 1894 OCt. RIFLE IN SCARCE .32-40, #31XXX, MADE 1897, CODY LETTER
Description: CLASSIC, EARLY ANTIQUE 1894 OCTAGON RIFLE IN SCARCE .32-40, #31XXX, MADE 1897, WINCHESTER CODY LETTER. A fine unaltered example that shows fine lightly aged blue on the barrel and good blue mixing slightly plum on the mag. tube. The receiver has aged naturally to a plum/brown with some good blue on the bolt and loading gate. The stock and forend are solid with one tiny worn-in chip in the left top rear of the forend where it meets the receiver. The stock shows some wear around the wrist where it looks like it may have rubbed on a saddle scabbard, but tight wood to metal fit. On the right rear side of the stock is a worn scratching “DEER” with what appear to be some scratched kill lines- old and worn in and hard to see. Fine screw heads, tight action, strong springs, solid half-cock safety and excellent bore that is only slightly dark. Buckhorn rear sight with elevator bar intact and small Winchester blade front sight. Fine appearance and lots of history in this scarce caliber 129 year old 1894 octagon rifle!
