Cal 38-55. 26" full oct bbl and full length mag tube. Typical flat top sporting Winchester rear sight. Lyman bead front sight. Lyman folding tang sight. A very interesting gun. It was engraved by Stokes. 565k serial range. Probably one of the guns that was made for the Highly Finished Arms Catalog of 1897. I have only 3 or 4 guns done this way. Very unusual with a standing grizzly bear with his back to the scene. There is a fleeing deer in the scroll work on one side as well as elk in a circle motif on the other side. The receiver features full scroll coverage. The bbl is also engraved with a vine motif around the caliber marking. Guaranteed all original this gun is pictured on page 343 of the Winchester Engraving Book by R. L. Wilson. It has a take down frame with fancy deluxe pistol grip checkered wood and rifle style butt plate. Wood is in excellent cond with most orig finish. Overall gun is excellent with 95% orig blue and just thinning on the high points.
