High Condition Winchester Model 1894 38-55 Rifle Made 1905
Description: DESCRIPTION: Winchester Model 1894 rifle, standard configuration of 26" octagon barrel, full magazine and crescent butt, caliber 38-55. Has special order Lyman front sight. Serial # 269082 was applied on May 13, 1905, warehoused on August 19, 1905, front sight installed August 21, 1905 and shipped later that day to order # 22054. Copy of Cody Museum email sheet will accompany the rifle. One of a handful that I am listing that I just acquired from a local estate - previous owner purchased this rifle in 1959 so it has been tucked away for 60 years!! CONDITION: Receiver, barrel and mag tube retain 80-85% original bright blue toning to plum. Lever, hammer, butt plate and fore end cap have silvered out with traces of the original case colors present. Loading gate retains 20% original bright fire blue. Stocks are sound with no splits or cracks, never sanded or refinished, no extra holes, still tight and proud, with a couple of dings and one big owee on the top comb by the butt plate. Bore is very good with strong, consistent rifling and light minor roughness, an 8 of 10. Action is tight and hammer spring strong. Half cock safety functions as it should. Have a competent gunsmith check it over before firing. Very nice collector and shooter grade Model 1886 in the right caliber. Grades NRA Antique Fine.
