Here we present a Winchester Model 1894 Lever Action Rifle, manufactured in 1913 in New Haven, Connecticut. Production lasted from 1894 to present day with over a million produced. The credit for the design of such a prolific firearm lies with John Moses Browning. The model 1894 was the first Winchester rifle made for use with the new technology of smokeless powder. In all likelihood, more deer have been taken with the 1894 than any other.
This one features a fully round barrel in .32-40 WCF. The top of the barrel is marked “MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO./ NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. PATENDED AUGUST.21.1894”. The barrel is also marked “32-40”. The tang is marked “MODEL 1894/WINCHESTER/TRADE MARK REG.IN.U.S. PAT.OFF”.
The overall condition is fine. The original blue on the barrel and magazine tube is 80%. The casehardened frame has turned a deep plum. The markings are clear. The walnut stock is smooth and solid.
