SER#213183, 38-55, 26” octagon barrel and a mostly dark about good bore showing some areas of light pitting and oxidation, mostly about mid-bore, and otherwise fair rifling throughout. The barrel and magazine tube of this 1904-made rifle retain about 40% original blue showing handling marks and slight thinning and toning to a pleasant gray-brown patina. The action retains about 75% original blue showing some overall flaking to gray-brown and the left side with a few small scuff marks and pinprick pits. The nosecap and magazine hanger are in the white while the hammer and lever show faint case-hardened colors, and the loading gate retains some blue. There are a few old light tool marks along the lower tang and all markings remain intact and strong. The plain walnut buttstock with shotgun butt and the smooth forend remain in fair condition retaining some varnish showing scattered handling marks cracks and mild scuffs. Stock fit is otherwise excellent and the rifle is sighted with standard sporting rear sight and small front blade. A fair Model 1894 rifle for the budding collector without the big collector price tag.
