Winchester 1894 SRC, Possibly a "Spruce Gun
Description:
In 1917, the government ordered 1800 '94's for use by guards protecting the spruce forests of Washington. These guns were likely pulled from the warehouse at random. They were a mixture of walnut and gum woods. This one has the appropriate "U.S." and "bomb" stamps to be one of those guns. The S/N lies outside the range of known S/N's but it was made in the correct year (1916.) After the war these were dispersed as war surplus. Only a few hundred have been positively identified.

Metal Condition: Very good. Retains very strong blue on the barrel and magazine tube, and some remains on the receiver.
Wood Condition: Good. There is quite a number of digs and scratches, normal for a gun of this type. Finish has aged to a very dark color.
Bore Condition: Shiny and serviceable
Barrels: 20 Inch
Stock: Straight grip gum wood
Stock Dimensions:
13 Inch LOP
Fore End: Matching gum
Butt Pad: Curved steel plate
Weight: 6 lbs - 5 oz
