Description: General Specs: Winchester, 1899, .30WCF, 7lbs. 12oz., LOP 13" Serial Number: 65258 Americas favorite deer rifle. The perfect hunting gun either on foot or from the saddle, lightweight, nimble and fast to action the 94′ is simple, safe and reliable. Designed by John Browning the Model 1894 is the rifle most associated with the Winchester name, it has sold over 7,500,000 units and is often referred as the “ultimate lever-action”. Offered throughout is production in many different configurations along with a myriad of customer customizable options 1894’s are very varied and often unique. This example was manufactured in 1899 and is serial number 65258. The barrel blue is 97% original with a very good shiny bore and rifling, there are signs of wear in the grooves. The barrel is marked ‘Extra Steel Barrel Especially for Smokeless Powder’. The receiver metal has gone mostly to a silver and patina with traces of factory bluing evident, the screws are excellent, the lever and hammer retain 70% case color but fading to patina. The buttstock and forend varnish has a rich sheen, the wood shows good straight grain with the expected field marks adding some character, wood to metal fit is superb. This rifle surely has had many adventures in its 126 years and it’s all set for more; just imagine stalking a fine buck with this classic rifle in the very capable .30-30 caliber and taking game with a piece of American history!
