Description:
This a Pre-64 Winchester Model 1894 Carbine made sometime between 1943 and 1948 with a 20" round barrel chambered in .32 Winchester special. This example appears to have a Type 2 frame with an approximate 45-degree turn at the transition to the receiver. The left side of the barrel is marked "MADE IN NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S. OF AMERICA / —WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL—", and "–WINCHESTER– / –TRADE MARK–", and "MODEL 94 – 32 W.S. –". The top of the barrel and chamber ring are marked with a Winchester proof mark. The bottom of the receiver is marked with the serial number "1436789". The front sight is a hooded brass-beaded blade that is dovetailed to a textured riser fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is a U-notched semi buckhorn elevator sight that is dovetailed to the barrel. The full length magazine tube has slotted magazine tube end cap. The hammer is serrated. The stocks are two-piece smooth walnut with a banded forearm, straight grip, straight comb, and a serrated steel buttplate.
