Up for sale is a highly collectible Winchester Model 94 Saddle Ring Carbine .30 w.c.f. Pre 64 Pre War. Serial number, from proofhouse and other online sources, indicates manufacture date of 1897. Included is a factory letter from the Cody Firearms Museum with details that indicate a 1901 manufacture date. This would be mailed separately to the buyer so as not to bend it for framing purposes. It has the very rare .30 w.c.f. caliber marking at top center of its 20" round barrel instead of on the side as with later models. This is seen quite frequently on the octagon barrels of the time but not so on the round barrels. Serial number is 110096. The problem is that this carbine has had holes drilled in the past for a scope and subsequently filled in and polished smooth by a previous owner. There is also a couple of minor cracks to the buttstock which have been repaired. Still, this carbine is beautiful and presents well and would be a very nice collectible Saddle Ring Carbine at the price offered. The buttstock and forearm are very nice with no serious problems. It also has a very clean and shiny bore. It has been a very well taken care of firearm over the years except for the 'scope' issue and well worth the price it is being offered at.
