Winchester SEMI DELUXE 1894 TAKE DOWN
Description:
What I have for sale here is a Cody lettered model 1894 rifle, in the popular 30 WCF. This is a less common SEMI-DELUXE variation, with the special order take-down feature. The semi-deluxe has the pistol grip without checkering, average to above average walnut stock and forearm, and a Winchester pistol grip cap. This paticular rifle has the shotgun butt plate (in great shape), and the standard single trigger. The 26" octagon barrel has nice crisp script, 95% of it's original blue, and the correct sight package intact. This rifle dsplays an excellent bore. The receiver shows cary wear, but still retains 80-85% of it's original blue finish. The wood remains proud where it meets any metal, and does not appear to be refinished. The magazine tube is free of any dings, and only shows wear in the take-down area around the front loop. The gun takes down and reassembles easily and properly the way it is designed to do. According to the definitive records published by George Madis, this rifle was built in the year 1897, but was not received in the warehouse until April 1900. I would say it qualifies as a true antique, but I will leave that up to your discretion. All in all, this is a well cared for, fantistic condition example of a rare take-down model 1894, at a very competitive price. The gun comes with a the letter from the records at the Cody Firearms Museum.
