Customized 1915 mfr WINCHESTER Model 1895 .30-06 GOVT Lever Action Rifle C&R Short, Handy .30-06 for the Early-20 Century Cowboy!
Description: Customized 1915 mfr WINCHESTER Model 1895 .30-06 GOVT Lever Action Rifle C&R Short, Handy .30-06 for the Early-20 Century Cowboy! Here we present a C&R Winchester Model 1895 Lever Action Rifle, manufactured in 1915 in New Haven, Connecticut, and chambered in .30-06. This rifle was originally a military length “musket” and was shortened to its current configuration so that it was handier and lighter for the field. This included a shortening of the barrel and stock and the removal of the handguard. A new front sight ramp and post were installed, the old tangent rear sight removed, and an aperture/peep rear sight was installed on the receiver. This is a great rifle still game for the woods, plains, or mountains today. The Model 1895 was the first Winchester rifle to feature a box magazine located underneath the action instead of the tubular magazine design, which had remained fundamentally unchanged from the Winchester 1866. This allowed the rifle to safely chamber military and hunting cartridges with pointed bullets. The M1895 was also the last of the lever-action rifles to be designed by John Moses Browning and featured a rear locking bolt as in his previous designs dating back to the Winchester 1886. The M1895 was the strongest lever-action rifle Winchester had produced, designed to handle the increased pressures generated by the more powerful smokeless powder cartridges entering common use at the time of its introduction. These were highly prized by early-20th Century big game hunters and even lawmen such as the Arizona & Texas Rangers! The overall condition is very good. This rifle has had the steel refinished at some point. Excellent, crisp action—it is smooth and livelier than most. Bright and reflective bore. The stock is solid all around. Redfield front and rear iron sights. Here is an honest, reliable, and sturdy rifle that’s ready to go! This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 21-3/4 inches. Caliber: .30-06 SPRG Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2245 #210755 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
