RARE Lettered Antique Winchester Flatside Model 1895 Lever Action Rifle w Lyman Peep
Description: Rare Antique Winchester Model 1895 Flatside Lever Action Rifle With “Climbin’ Lyman” Rear Peep Sight & Factory Letter! Here we present an antique Winchester Model 1895 Flatside Lever Action Rifle, made on July 14, 1897 in New Haven, Connecticut per the Factory Letter. Production lasted from 1896-1931. The Model 1895 was a different kind of lever action rifle than had ever before been seen. Designed by the prodigious John Moses Browning, the 1895 was the first box magazine fed lever action rifle, so it lacks the magazine tube typical of most lever guns, giving it a sleek and slender profile. This example is one of the few antique versions of this rifle, the vast majority of production having been made 1899 and beyond. Most of the production of the 1895 was also in the musket configuration. This specimen is in the “Flatside” configuration, simply meaning that its frame does not have any milled out scalloping like the vast majority of other 1895 rifles. In fact, the Flatside only occupied the first 5000 guns produced out of a total of 425,000. Any way you look at it, this is a rare Winchester and hard to get a hold of. Overall condition is very good. Most of the blue that remains is on the trigger, rear sight and the action. The wood stock shows typical handling, but no compromises to integrity. The rear sight is of the “Climbin’ Lyman” variety, an elevation adjustable peep sight that provides a very nice sight picture. Markings are all still very clear. It is chambered in 30-40 Krag and would be a pleasure to shoot! Included is the factory letter! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Only one other example found at $5000! Barrel is 28 inches in length. Caliber: 30 Govt (30-40 Krag) Bore is very good condition and the firing mechanism works very well. Overall condition as seen in photos. Need a nice Flatside to round out your Winchester collection? Look no further! Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $4500 #10264 SOLD Antique: Yes |
