VERY FINE CONDITION 1895 SADDLE RING CARBINE, .30-40 CALIBER, #62XXX, MADE 1908
Description: VERY FINE CONDITION 1895 SADDLE RING CARBINE, .30-40 CALIBER, #62XXX, MADE 1908. This model and caliber was very popular with the Texas and Arizona Rangers during the first decade of the last century. Early examples, like this one, are difficult to find in this kind of condition as most saw fairly hard use. This example shows very fine receiver blue with edge wear and some light thinning on the right side toward the front half. The bolt retains exc. bright blue and there is still some good blue on the magazine sides. All markings on the receiver are sharp and clear, saddle ring is intact and screws are fine with NO extra holes. The barrel shows good blue with some light thinning and has the correct ladder rear sight with slide intact. Butt stock and forend are excellent with tight wood to metal fit. The handguard is the original with matching walnut (usually easy to spot a replacement handguard because the walnut rarely matches). This one has been fitted with a sling swivel in the barrel band and one in the butt stock that may or may not be factory original, but certainly old. Only the beginnings of a slight crack in the handguard just coming forward from the receiver ring and goes for about an inch. Action is tight and bore is sharp and excellent. Really fine appearance on this nearly 114 year old '95 especially with so much blue remaining on the receiver. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Rifle Caliber: .30-40 Krag Manufacturer: Winchester Model: 1895 Serial Number: 62XXX Barrel Length: 22 Condition: FINE+ Bore Condition: EXCELLENT |
