Winchester 1895 Saddle Ring Carbine in 30-40 Krag
Description: Winchester 1895 Saddle Ring Carbine in 30-40 Krag This is a Winchester 1895 Lever Action Saddle Ring carbine in 30-40 Krag. It features standard walnut stocks finger groove carbine forend and handguard retained by a single barrel band. It has a five shot fixed magazine with a 22" blue steel round barrel. It is fitted with a pinned blade on base front sight and a Model 21 Lyman Peep Sight, there is no provision for a barrel sight. The Buttplate is a trapdoor type typical for this model. It has sling eyes attached in the buttstock and on the barrel band. Condition: This Winchester 1895 Saddle Ring Carbine was manufactured in 1907 and is in fine condition. The barrel retains nearly all its original blue with minor handling marks. The receiver retains 75-85% bright blue with balance flaked and blending with patina. Breech is stamped "30" with PW. The factory legends are mostly obscured by sight bar. Wood is excellent with the exception of some very minor dings and impressions the largest is on the right side of the buttstock. This carbine has been period modified by the addition of sling eyes and a Model 21 Lyman Peep Sight. The original barrel sight has been removed and a later replacement handguard has been installed. These are excellent field guns because of their size this one is in 30-40 Krag.
