Winchester Model 1895 Deluxe rifle. 303 British

Description:
***SOLD*** Very sharp and very scarce Winchester 1895 Deluxe rifle in 303 British caliber.
S/N 65935 made in 1912.
28" Round tapered barrel with a very good reflective bore showing strong rifling throughout.
Original barrel blue is very strong and consistent with a few scattered rubs and an elevator track from a previously mounted rear sight.
The receiver and associated components retain much of their original blue, and have taken on a pleasing nickel grey patina in other areas, but there is no mentionable corrosion, flaking, or discoloration.
The XXX wood is fantastic with some beautiful color and sunburst grain. It appears to have had a coat of varnish applied, and the checkering later chased or cleaned up, based on minor inconsistencies throughout the pattern when viewed closely.
The current sights consist of a beaded blade front which is pinned to an integral post, and the very rare Lyman 38 windage adjustable receiver sight. There is a filler in the barrel's rear sight dovetail.
All mechanical functions are strong and crisp and this rifle should make for a wonderful collectible shooter.
