Winchester Model 43 .22 Magnum Prototype from the Factory Collection

Description:
Winchester Model 43 factory prototype in caliber .22 Magnum rimfire, documented from the factory collection.

It remains in excellent condition, and has not been modified or fired since it left the factory collection. The "22 WMR" caliber designation is hand stamped next to the proof mark on the barrel, but it does not have the typical factory roll stamping on the barrel. It does have the correct Winchester collection inventory tag attached to the left side of the stock, and this number is documented and confirmed in the book that lists the inventory of the factory collection. It does not have a magazine, and I suspect the factory never tooled up and made one for this prototype. The sling swivels were removed at the factory and plugged with walnut dowels, presumably to use at the factory on a testing device and/or rest. Includes the affidavit documenting that it was a part of the factory collection, and a factory handwritten hang tag.
