This 22LR special order Winchester Model 52 Target Rifle, serial number 20,303, with an early speed lock action is circa 1931. The special order features of this rifle are the capped pistol grip and stock wrist and forearm checkering. A very similar rifle, serial number 32,420, built in 1934 for John M. Olin, the owner of Winchester, is pictured on page 101 of ""The Winchester Model 52"" by Herbert G. Houze. Another similar rifle is pictured on page 125. The 28"" barrel has an excellent bore with bright, strong rifling. The front sight is a Lyman interchangable disc peep. The receiver sight is the Winchester military style peep with folding leaf. The rifle is also equipped with a J.W. Fecker target scope of the period. It has fine cross hairs and excellent optics and is equipped with Litschert lens covers. The gun has approx. 97% blue with some color change on the trigger guard. The magazine, with its 1919 patent date and .22 LONG R. on the follower, is correct for the period. The stock is excellent overall. The action functions correctly. The adjustable trigger currently has a very light pull.
