MODEL 53 SOLID FRAME RIFLE IN SCARCE AND DESIRABLE .32-20 CALIBER, #7XXX, MADE 1927

Description:
MODEL 53 SOLID FRAME RIFLE IN SCARCE AND DESIRABLE .32-20 CALIBER, #7XXX, MADE 1927. This model was introduced in 1924 and was discontinued in the early year of 1932 of the Great Depression. After 1932 a few were assembled from left over parts until World War II. Of the less than 25,000 production of this model, 16,905 were chambered in .25-20 caliber which was considered the standard caliber for the Model 53. Only 4,718 were made in .32-20 and another 3,293 in .44-40. This example, made the same year Charles Lindbergh made the first flight across the Atlantic, shows good barrel blue and markings. It is fitted with a flattop buckhorn rear sight with elevator bar intact and a small Lyman marked blade/bead front sight. The receiver is a dull somewhat splotchy gray with good screw heads and excellent blue on the loading gate. It retains the original serrated steel butt plate and the butt stock and forend are fine showing light handling only with some dark staining on the forend and a very minor short crack coming back from the receiver on the left side of the wrist. The action is tight and the bore is excellent with perhaps some very minor surface scattered corrosion that may turn out to be some minor leading- either way it is fairly insignificant.
