Winchester model 53 Take - down. These guns saw a very limited production period, starting in 1925- 1946. Approximately 24,900 guns were manufactured in solid and take-down frames. Three calibers were avaliable 25-20, 32-20, 44-40. This model 53 is in fantastic original condition, receiver retains 98% original blue, barrel and 1/2 mag retain 97 % original blue, Wood is sound with handling marks.The rear tang sight is a Parker Hale that I beleive to be original to the gun, no extra holes added. Due to receivers having a high nickel content bluing did not stay on them, (thus the term flaking). As you can see there is very little flaking on this model 53.A very diserable and hard to find winchester in this condition.
