Winchester Model 53 rifle chambered in .25-20 Winchester. The Model 53 was intended as an updated/modernized version of the original Model 1892 lever action rifle. They were manufactured from 1924 to 1932 with this example in 1926. Approximately 25,000 were manufactured in total so it's a rare rifle in terms of production. It has a 22 inch round tapered barrel and a half magazine with a shotgun type butt stock. It has a blade front sight with a standard adjustable rear sight. It has a standard walnut forearm with a steel end cap and straight grip walnut stock with a steel serrated flat buttplate. The left side of the barrel is marked with the two-line Winchester address markings with the left side marked with Winchester model/trademark, "NICKEL STEEL" markings followed by "25-20 W.C.F." caliber markings. The upper tang has the standard three-line Winchester factory markings. The top rear, breech end of the barrel and receiver both have the standard Winchester circled "WP" proof mark. .25-20 WCF
