Winchester Model 53 lever action rifle chambered for .25-20 WCF cartridge. Made in 1926 this is an extremely fine example of an original 53 and the 53 was a variation of the model 92 that used a straight grip stock, 22” barrel, button mag, smooth (uncheckered) wood and shotgun butt with steel buttplate. Only 15,118 model 53’s were made over a 17 year production run and very few retain this much original finish. The barrel is 98%+; the frame 95% with flaking on the left side and fading on the right side. The wood is great..there may have been a very light coat of finish applied at some time but the stock only shows a few light handling marks and there is absolutely no indication of the stock ever having been sanded or stripped!
