Description: *** SOLD *** Great example of the immediate forerunner to the fabulous Model 70. This rifle is one of the last 54s made in 1936 and is very similar in appearance to the Pre War 70. Compared to the earlier style with the post front sight and schnable tipped, downward combed stock, these later rifles are far scarcer. The overall condition is excellent with original finishes showing 95% and no alterations whatsoever. The rear receiver bridge remains undrilled and there are no nightmarish molestations of the bolt handle, stock, and safety so often seen on others of this model. S/N is 486**A with matching scribed bolt. 30-06 Caliber. 24" Barrel with minty bore and flawless mechanics. Not perfect, but pretty amazing for 86 y.o., and would still be very difficult to upgrade!
