Winchester Model 54 later style standard rifle 30-06
Description:
Rock-solid shooter grade Model 54 with the later "NRA" style stock. S/N 48***A made in 1936. Bolt has a very faint but present and matching # scribed upon it. 24" Barrel with bright bore and strong rifling. Mechanics are great. Condition of Blue on barreled action is quite good, well over 90%. Bolt knob shows moderate pitting. The floor plate and butt plate have worn to a greyish patina. The wood is in fine shape without any modifications structurally nor any cracks, but does show evidence of some scrubbing and oil coats over the years, with plugged checkering and one "kill"? notch filed in just behind pistol grip. I hope the new owner will have better luck! Rear receiver bridge remains UNDRILLED. Rear sight is the very rare and expensive long slide Lyman 48W which has also worn to a grey patina. This one won't win any beauty contests, but should prove to be a great shooter or perfect candidate for restoration without any significant discrepancies, which has become very difficult to find with this model.
