I am not a Winchester collector and have very little experience with them . So, if I have left out something important in my description, please feel free to contact me and ask questions or for more specific pictures. I've tried to take good pictures and am depending on them to provide the best description of the rifle. I think the stock has been refinished. It doesn's show any sanding markes and the wood remains proud to the metal, at least in my view.
I don't believe it has been re-blued as I see no evidence of buffing. No smearing of the stampings. You will have to be the ultimate judge of that.
The bore is pristine. The barrel assembly fits tightly to the action. NO WIGGLE or looseness.
The butt plate is pitted. I don't know how it can show pitting when the rest of the rifle is so nice. A mystery to me. But, should be an easy replacement if that is what a person wants to do.
There is a crack in the stock on the left side where the tang comes up to the action. It doesn't appear that it was ever broken out, just a crack there.
I think this rifle will make a nice addition to a collection and certainly would be a nostalgic blast to hunt with.
I have cycled cartridges through the action and everything works as it should.
The serial number is in the 10188XX range.
If your dealer won't accept the piece from an individual then you will need to add $25 to the total cost for the service of my dealer. I will accept a C&R license.
